Genki Kids Tummy & Foot Massage

Does your child wake up complaining about aching legs, or struggle with a heavy, hard and uncomfortable tummy throughout the day?

Between school, tuition, CCAs, sports and active play, your child can have a surprisingly busy day. Sometimes, you may notice the signs of it, from a kids tummy that feels bloated or uncomfortable to tired feet, tight calves, muscle tension or difficulty settling down after an especially active day.

And as a parent, even these everyday complaints can leave you wondering:

  • Are they feeling uncomfortable after a rushed meal?
  • Is your child simply tired from a busy schedule?
  • Could their growing body be struggling to keep up with everything they do each day?

That is where the Genki Kids Tummy & Foot Massage at Ikeda Spa comes in.

This treatment is a gentle 30-minute Japanese wellness experience created specifically for children aged 4 to 12. It focuses on the tummy and foot using carefully adapted massage techniques and performed with baby oil.

Instead of waiting until another uncomfortable evening or stressful school morning, you can give your child a dedicated moment to slow down, relax and feel cared for.

Because when your child feels more comfortable, your whole family’s routine can feel a little easier too.

How Can the Genki Tummy & Foot Massage Help Your Child?

Your child’s body is constantly changing. Between growth spurts, school, sports, CCAs and active play, it is normal for little bodies to feel the strain of a busy day. A bloated tummy can make mornings uncomfortable, while tired legs and feet can make it harder for your child to properly unwind at night.

The Genki Kids Tummy and Foot Massage is designed to give your child gentle, focused care for two areas that work hard every day. Using Japanese-inspired massage techniques adapted for children aged 4 to 12, the treatment helps your child relax, release everyday tension and feel more comfortable from tummy to toes.

Reduce Tummy Bloatedness and Discomfort

Gentle tummy massage strokes can help your child feel more at ease when their tummy feels tight, bloated or unsettled, helping them get through the day more comfortably.

Relief For Tired Feet From Daily Activities

After a full day of sitting, walking, running and playing, your child may carry tension in their body without realising it. Massage gives them dedicated time to release that built-up tension.

Soothe Calf Muscle Tension During Growth Spurt

Growing bodies work hard. If your child often comes home with tired legs or feet after school, sports, CCAs or play, gentle foot and calf massage gives those hardworking areas time to relax.

30 Minutes of Calm, Comfort and One-to-One Care

Sometimes, what your child needs is simply dedicated one-to-one attention in a comfortable space. Baby oil from Japan helps create a smooth, soothing glide, while our therapists can adjust their approach if your child is ticklish, shy, nervous or having their very first massage.

Is This Right For Your Child?

The Genki Kids Tummy and Foot Massage is especially suitable for children who:

  • Always ask for leg rubs at night: For the kids going through growth spurts who run around all day, but complain their calves or feet are “achey” and sore by bedtime.
  • Get the morning “tummy aches”: For children who often feel bloated, trapped with wind, or say their tummy just feels “tight” and uncomfortable before and after every meal.
  • Are wiped out from a heavy schedule: For kids who carry physical tension in their bodies from lugging heavy schoolbags, sitting through tuition, and rushing to active CCAs.
  • Just need some gentle TLC: For children who simply need a quiet, screen-free half-hour to slow down, be pampered, and feel cared for.

COMMON QUESTIONS FROM PARENTS

Are the therapists trained specifically to massage children?

Yes. Our therapists undergo specific training in Japanese-inspired pediatric massage techniques. They understand the anatomy of growing children and use modified, gentle strokes that are entirely different from adult deep-tissue massages.

Is the pressure too hard for a young child’s growing bones?

Not at all. The treatment uses light, rhythmic, and sweeping motions. The focus is on soothing the muscles and skin, not pressing into the joints or bones.

Is it safe to massage a child’s tummy?

Yes. We use a Japanese technique inspired by Ampuku, which involves very light, gentle clockwise strokes following the natural path of digestion. It is a superficial, soothing touch designed to ease bloating and trapped wind, never a deep or invasive pressure.

What if my child is extremely ticklish on their tummy or feet?

This is a very common concern. Our therapists use premium Japanese baby oil to create a smooth glide and apply firm, broad strokes rather than light, feathery touches (which trigger the tickle reflex). We also communicate with your child and can adjust our touch immediately if they feel ticklish.

What if my child won’t lie still or wants to stop halfway?

The session is entirely child-led. If your child is fidgety, we allow them to shift positions. If they become upset or wish to stop, we will pause or end the session without hesitation. We want this to be a positive, stress-free environment.

Will this cure my child’s constipation or growing pains?

The treatment is a holistic wellness treatment, not a medical cure. While gentle tummy massage is excellent for encouraging digestion and relieving trapped air, and foot massage flushes out muscle fatigue to ease growing pains, it should not replace professional medical advice for chronic conditions.

Can we book a session if my child has a stomach bug, fever, or diarrhea?

No. If your child is unwell, has a fever, or is experiencing an active stomach bug/diarrhoea, please wait until they are fully recovered before bringing them in for a massage to ensure their comfort and safety.

How soon after eating can my child have the tummy massage?

We recommend waiting at least 1 to 2 hours after a heavy meal before the massage. If they have only had a light snack, a 30-minute wait is sufficient. Massaging a completely full stomach can be uncomfortable.

How often should my child get this massage?

It depends entirely on your child’s needs. Some parents book weekly sessions during active sports seasons or intense growth spurts, while others visit once or twice a month as a regular wellness and relaxation routine.

What should my child do after the massage?

We recommend offering your child plenty of room-temperature water after the session to help flush out the muscle tension released during the foot massage. You can generally expect them to feel much calmer and more ready for a smooth bedtime that evening.
